GRAVE DIGGER Explain New Album Cover

November 24, 2004

German power metallers GRAVE DIGGER have issued a statement defending their choice of artwork (designed by Gyula Havancsak) for their upcoming release, "The Last Supper". The statement reads as follows:

"After the release of 'The Last Supper' artwork we got a lot of very positive response. But there are also fans [who] are disappointed by the artwork cause of the motive. For all: this is not a Satanic message or something else in this direction, and it's not against Christians. The cover represented a depressive Jesus Christ at his last days before death. He was left by his followers and the artwork shows the loneliness of Jesus while death waiting behind him.

"Read the chorus lyrics of 'Crucified' and you know what's the meaning of the cover: 'Father tell me what went wrong, my whole life my faith was strong, father tell me why should I die, this screaming mob yells crucify, my curse comes true I have to die, why I am crucified.'"

"The Last Supper" is scheduled for release on January 17, 2005 through Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to last year's "Rheingold" was recorded at Principal studio in Münster, Germany and will have a running time of 53 minutes. The new CD is said to contain "more metal, more passion and more power" than the group's previous efforts.

"The Last Supper" final track listing:
